How a Saltwater Pool Works

A salt chlorine generator (also called a salt cell) converts a low concentration of pool-grade salt into chlorine automatically. You still get sanitized water — you just stop handling jugs of liquid chlorine or chlorine tablets every week. The salt level is roughly 1/10th the salinity of the ocean, so the water feels silky, not salty.
